Just days after confirming a switch from blue to red (Ricciardo Kart to Birel ART) for its official race team, Patrizicorse has now announced a couple of key new drivers for 2023.
Kiwi Jay Urwin joins Birel ART Racing Australia to make his series debut in the KZ class while South Australia’s Jacob Dawson also joins the team, with the family’s MRK Racing becoming a dealer for the Birel ART chassis.
“Jacob is one of Australia’s leading senior drivers, a driver I have had my eye on for a couple of seasons now, always fighting at the top in X30″ team owner Michael Patrizi said.
“We are very pleased he has decided to join our new team after very limited testing of the BirelART material. I have no doubt we will give the national title a big push in 2023.”
For Urwin, joining the team to race in Australia has been a drawn out process.
“Unfortunately covid has delayed Jay’s arrival with our team” Patrizi explained.
“We have been working closely with Jay and his father Nikki for some time now and it is so exciting we can finally race together on track as one team.
“Jay is another very exciting you Kiwi talent who has a bright future and 2023 is going to be a busy year for him. Being one of only two factory KZ pilots for us in 2023 will give him lots of opportunity to absorb and learn and results will come.”
