Pollard Concludes Country Series Campaign

Liam Pollard headed to a wet and wild Ballarat over the weekend for the final round of the Victorian Country Series. Pollard has had a full-on season of racing in the TAG 125 Heavy ranks taking place in many big titles and the 2 major series in Victoria Karting. In a tough field of drivers, Liam was looking to finish his season on a high!

In a field of near 15 drivers, Liam hit the track for Saturday morning qualifying and was looking to put his hat in the ring for the front spots. Pollard quickly made his way into the top 10 drivers and was pushing hard to get more pace out of his kart. The Hafele backed entry was working his way towards the edge of the top 5 when he stopped the clock in position 6 overall. Liam was on the outside of the 3rd row to start heat 1.

With wet and wild weather forecasted, the racing was going to be intense. The Moment Maintenance sponsored entry stayed out of trouble and got a lightening start on the opening lap to jump into the lead of the race! Pollard dropped down a few positions but was in the intense battle of the top 5 and was pushing hard to improve in pace. Liam came home with a strong top 5 in 5th place only 1.2 seconds off the race victory!

Pollard had his 2nd and final heat of Saturday in the afternoon and he was looking to continue his strong progress. Liam got a clean get away and settled into position 6 at the end of the opening lap but had his eyes forward. The DJM Race Engineering backed entry was showing excellent pace and made the move for 5th on lap 4 and then 4th on lap 6. Pollard was able to come away with another excellent top 5 finish in 4th spot overall!

Liam’s final heat of the weekend took place on Sunday morning and he was looking to keep his strong form going. The Hafele sponsored entry settled into position 5 in the opening few laps but then made his way into 4th spot and had the eyes forward. Pollard was in a battle for 4th spot before dropping to the edge of the top 5. Liam was able to come away with his 3rd top 5 of the weekend in 5th place!

Pollard was ready to hit the track for the final and was aiming for a podium result. Liam got an excellent start and settled into 3rd position in the early stages of the race. The Moment Maintenance backed entry settled in 3rd for the majority of the race but was coming under pressure for the final podium spot. In a tough finish but successful result, Liam was able to come home in 4th position overall in a strong drive.

Liam’s father Cameron spoke post weekend on the wet and wild racing. “We’re starting to get the hang of our new kart and its showing in our results. Weather was all over the place but came good for the final. We had pace strong enough for a podium but just ran out of legs. Really happy with Liam and we’re looking forward to 2023”.
