Alf’s Gem Unveiled at Capri Cup

by Russell Innes – Ipswich Kart Club

Ipswich Kart Club finished off their Club Championship with the staging of the Capri Cup on Saturday and huge interest was generated in the meeting by the partnership between Ipswich Kart Club and the Queensland Vintage & Historic Karting Club to unveil the restored twin engine Margay kart that Alf Capri raced.

Alf’s son Steve hopped in the kart and did some demonstration laps and the huge crowd in attendance were very impressed with the restoration and the performance of the kart.

The team at Queensland Vintage and Historic Karting Club put on a display as well and many old faces and a lot of the current Cadet, Junior and Senior drivers were seen admiring the older generation karts.
