Solid Result for Series Leader

Jack Jenkins took to the 5th round of the Golden Power Series at the Rochester Kart Club over the weekend. Jenkins went into the round as the championship leader, with a round win and 3 podiums in the previous rounds.

Jack was looking to grab strong results and continue his brilliant 2022 season! Jenkins hit the track for Saturday qualifying against a field of 26 other Cadet 12 drivers with the timed session being crucial to his weekend. The Pulse Tuning backed entry was quickly into the top 10 and was pushing as hard as he could to get into the top 5. Jack was driving the wheels off his kart and was right in the fight for the front positions. Jenkins stopped the time session in 6th position and was off the outside of the 3rd row for the opening heats.

Jack was out of position 6 for the opening race and knew a good start was crucial to his race. Jenkins was able to move up to position 4 on the opening lap and was trying to go with the top 3 drivers. The Pulse Tuning powered entry was in position 4 and wasn’t quite able to go with the top 3, but was holding off anyone behind. Jack crossed the line in position 4 overall, moving up 2 spots across the heat.

Heat 2 was the final race on Saturday afternoon and the start didn’t fall the way of Jack, as he dropped back to position 11 on lap 1. Jenkins quickly worked his way back into the top 10 and was up into position 8 by lap 5. Jack drove the wheels off his Parolin kart and was pushing his way towards the top 5. Jenkins crossed the line in a remarkable position 5 but classified in position 7 after a post-race infringement.

Position 5 was the starting point for Jenkins after his opening 2 heats and the young driver was looking to move forward. The Pulse Tuning driver got an excellent start and moved straight up into position 3. Jack was pushing hard and in the back end of the race was really making a race for 2nd spot. Jenkins was able to come home in position 3 overall, which gave him great confidence he could contend going into the final!

Jenkins was out of position 4 for the final and was ready to try and claim victory for the round. Jack dropped back to position 5 off the start but by half race distance he was up to 3rd place and chasing after the top 2. The Pulse Tuning powered entry drove his heart out and was able to catch the top 3 and close in on the battle at the front. Jenkins made his way to 2nd and hit the front on the final lap! In a frantic finish with multiple lead changes, Jack crossed the line in a gallant 2nd place only 7 hundredths of a second off race victory!

Jack’s parents spoke post weekend on their young driver’s incredible performance. “Considering how the weekend started for Jack, he never gave up and just kept pushing forward. The outcome of the final, including fastest lap all weekend, was really an awesome result to finish off Jack’s cadet 12 career.”

Jack spoke and thanked his brilliant team for the weekend. “ I want to thank Mum and Dad, the Pulse Tuning team for the help and support, Glenn for the great engine, Steve for spending the time with me driver training and working through data, and the other cadet 12s for the excellent racing in my last cadet 12 event.”

Jenkins will now move to the junior ranks where he will try to continue his strong 2022 season.
