Red Plate TaG Title for DJM

DJM Race Engineering took a team of 5 drivers across 3 classes to the Australasian Kart Titles over the weekend. Racing at the Gouburn Valley Kart Club, Dylan McLellan and his team were all chasing the coveted red plates to put on their karts for the next 12 months. With all drivers looking to put their best foot forward, the team were in for a fun weekend of racing.

Brett Jenkin started the weekend on fire for the DJM Race Engineering taking pole position in the TAG 125 Restricted Heavy class. Jenkins was able to take both heat wins on Saturday, with state champion Ryan Van Ree hot on his tail. Van Ree was able to turn the tables in heat 3 with Jenkins slotting in for a crucial 2nd spot. Jenkins led the early stages of the final with Ryan Van Ree hot on his heals. Jenkins was able to hold his nerve and open up enough margin to grab a crucial victory and the coveted red plate!

KA3 Senior Light had a triple driver DJM Race Engineering attack in Ashton Cattach, Adam Campbell and Harley Bright. Cattach was able to set the tone in qualifying coming home inside the top 10, with Campbell and Bright not far behind in position 11 and 14. Cattach and Campbell were both able to run inside the top 10 in all 3 heats with position 8 in heats 1 and 3 and position 10 in heat 2 for Cattach. Campbell managed to come home in position 9 in 2 of his 3 heats, with Bright as high as position 12 in 2 of his heats and not far off the top 10 drivers. Cattach did a brilliant job in a tough and high-quality field of drivers to come home in position 8 overall in the final. Campbell crossed the line just outside the top 10 in position 11, while Bright unfortunately didn’t make the start with an issue on the start grid.

Bodhi Bright was the final driver on track for the DJM Race Engineering team in KA3 Senior Medium. Bright qualified in position 6, just outside the top 5 and was looking to move forward across the weekend. Bodhi was unfortunately involved in an incident in the opening heat which had him down the order but bounced back to finish in the top 5 in the 2nd heat. Bright finished the final heat in 4th spot and was looking for a podium in the final. Bodhi raced his hardest and came home inside the top 5 in another strong 4th position.

DJM Race Engineering team owner Dylan McLellan spoke post weekend on his team’s result. “It’s always a great weekend to win any title and any coloured plate. Brett got challenged but as he always does, he responded and I’m super proud of his driving. All of our KA3 Senior drivers improved across the weekend and we go to Rochester Kart Club aiming for more wins”.

DJM Race Engineering will be back on the track this weekend for the 5th round of the Golden Power Series at the Rochester Kart Club.
