Archie Bristow was once again back to the track over the weekend, this time for the fourth round of the Victorian Country Series. Bristow headed to the Wimmera Kart Club off the biggest win of his career in the Panduit City of Melbourne Kart Titles. Archie was up against a strong field of 10 drivers and Saturday practice was a wet start to the weekend!
Bristow was ready to go for Saturday afternoon qualifying and knew the session would be crucial in difficult conditions. The Bridgeswade Pools and Spas sponsored entry quickly established himself at the top of times and was looking to put in smart and consistent laps in tricky conditions. Archie was keeping his spot at the time and was able to finish the session on pole position, 3 tenths clear of his nearest rival.
Heat 1 was the start of racing and Sunday morning provided foggy and low grip conditions. Bristow was the first driver to hit the circuit and was able to lead at the conclusion of the opening lap. Archie’s Parolin kart was working well and the young driver was showing supreme kart control to lead the field and be opening up margin. Bristow was able to lead every lap and convert pole position into victory in heat 1 by well over 3 seconds!
Track conditions had dramatically improved by heat 2 and Archie was once again off pole position. The M J Pressure and Property Works backed entry got a clean get away and was setting fastest laps at the front and pulling away from the rest of the field. Bristow was able to put in another brilliant display, taking heat 2 victory by a near 7 seconds!
Archie was off pole position for the all-important final. Archie was looking to take another clean sweep and another important open win in his young career. The Bridgeswade Pools and Spas backed entry was able to again lead at the end of lap 1 and go to work to opening up margin on the field. Bristow was always comfortable at the front of the field and young driver was showing he is at the peak of his powers. Archie was able to take out the final by over 5 seconds in a dominate clean sweep victory!
Archie’s father Matthew spoke post weekend on the tough conditions of Saturday and his young son’s winning weekend. “A wet start to the weekend on Saturday wasn’t exactly what we had hoped for to try out the new track upgrade. Archie didn’t seem fussed though and showed some great kart control and pace in the practice sessions.
“The other cadet 9 competitors closed the gap to Archie in qualifying but he’d done enough to put it on pole. Archie did what he needed to do again in the heats and final ensuring he got a decent gap right from the start and driving to victory. Archie had a great weekend and as always, we are so proud of him.
“I would like to congratulate Remo and the rest of the Wimmera kart club on the track upgrade, it is a massive success and made for some very entertaining racing”.
Bristow is proving he is currently one of the best Cadet 9 drivers in the country!
