Fabcon Racing Team Report from GPS

Fabcon Racing returned to the Eastern Lions Kart Club for the fourth round of the Victorian Golden Power Series over the weekend. Fabcon Racing continued their preparation for the series at the recent June club meet and was looking to continue on the good results in the series.

The team once again had the three-driver team in Isabel Rowe in KA4 Junior Heavy, Jamie Rowe in TAG 125 Light and Nick Popple in KA3 Senior Light. All three drivers were in high quality fields and were ready for a tough weekend of racing!

Isabel Rowe was first on the circuit in the near twenty-five kart field of KA4 Junior Heavy. Rowe set the tone for the weekend putting in a superb job in qualifying landing herself inside the top five! Isabel backed this up in heat one with another consistent result of fifth spot. Rowe put in a superb performance on Saturday afternoon, making her way up into the top two with second position overall! Isabel had an unfortunate incident on the opening lap of heat three putting her to the rear of the field.

In a great recovery, Rowe was able to make her way back up to the top ten in tenth spot. Rowe charged into the top five in the final and was putting herself right in the battle for a podium position. Isabel put in a stellar drive crossing the line in fourth spot and finishing her weekend on a high!

Jamie Rowe was up next in another near twenty fiver kart field, this time TAG 125 Light. Rowe was able to show his true pace in qualifying putting himself on the front row of the grid in second position! Jamie was hit off at the opening corner of the opening heat, starting his weekend on a sour note. Rowe was able to get back on track and recover to position twelve in an excellent fightback.

Jamie showed his pace and skill with an awesome second place to finish the day on Saturday. Sunday was a difficult day for Rowe with track position being crucial in the star-studded field. Jamie was able to come away with position ten in heat three. Rowe continued to push hard in the final and made his way into ninth position by the finish line in a strong top ten result.

Nick Popple and Jamie Rowe were out on track in KA3 Senior Light against some of the countries and states best drivers. Rowe led the charge in qualifying setting the tone in seventh position with Popple just outside the top ten in fourteenth spot. Both Rowe and Popple had a tough time in the heats having DNF results in heat two and both involved in incidents in the third heat putting them down the order.

Rowe was able to charge his way back up to the edge of the top ten in the final, coming home in a credible eleventh spot overall. Popple also raced hard and was able to come home inside the top twenty in position eighteen overall.

Team manager Bryan Rowe spoke post weekend on the up and down weekend for the team. “It was a tough one for Fabcon Racing unfortunately. Isabel had a great weekend running top five all weekend and just missing the podium in fourth spot. Jamie had pace in both classes but just had bad luck and incidents that hurt his chances for podiums and wins. Nick was pushing hard all weekend but also had bad luck cruel his chances and hurt his finish position”.

Fabcon Racing will be looking to bounce back at the next round of the Golden Power Series in September at the Rochester Kart Club.
