SKUSA Confirms SuperNationals Venue

Who said, ‘You can never go home again?’ In what can only be described as a full-circle announcement, Superkarts! USA has confirmed that the milestone 25th edition of the SKUSA SuperNationals will indeed be held at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino this November 16-20, 2022.

After a volatile 2021 that saw the event forced to relocate on very short notice, SKUSA and the executives at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino reconvened to address the remaining year on an existing multi-year contract.

“I’m pretty candid and honest – sometimes to a fault,” remarked SKUSA’s Tom Kutscher. “The thought of going back to the Rio after what occurred in 2021 was the last thing on my mind. But the truth is, there was still one year left on the current agreement that we had to reconcile. We sat down with the brass at the Rio and had a very frank discussion about what had occurred. As many can imagine, we weren’t keen on returning. That said, I would be lying if I didn’t admit that the event has always felt most at home at the Rio. And in fact, with the hotel having been recently sold by Caesars Entertainment, the new ownership was quite eager and enthusiastic to start fresh.”

The significance of this year’s SKUSA SuperNationals cannot be overstated. The 2022 race marks the 25th year of the event, which is not lost on the Temecula-based company. More SuperNationals have been run at the Rio than not, and it’s no secret that drivers, teams, and families alike love the all-in-one venue and the proximity of hotel rooms to the racetrack.

“A 25th year in anything is an achievement,” acknowledged Kutscher. “The magnitude of what we’re stepping into is huge – to me, my family, and my amazing staff. Having raced quite a few SuperNationals myself, I’m stoked that we’re headed to the Rio yet again for number twenty-five. With all due respect to every other gracious host we’ve ever had, I couldn’t be happier to ring in a quarter century of SKUSA kart racing with the Rio as our backdrop.”

Although hesitancy would be justifiable after last year’s calamity, SKUSA would like to assure racers, teams, families, even spectators that this year’s agreement is indeed iron-clad. The new hotel management is aware of the hardships of last year and are eager to make amends and host a successful event in 2022. They have even begun some exciting remodeling including upgrades to the guest rooms.

Online Registration for the 25th Annual SKUSA SuperNationals will open on Sunday, July 10, at 12 noon Pacific. This time was intentionally selected to cater to SKUSA racers in multiple time zones – whether it be 3pm Eastern or 8-9pm for our European contingent. Please stay tuned to the SKUSA website and social media for more exciting announcements to come, including the tentative event schedule, the opening of the SKUSA hotel room block and other Rio special offerings.

“With the large and diverse group of participants that we are fortunate enough to attract, we are always mindful of when and how we go live with pre-entry,” added Tom Kutscher. “Being the 25th running of this event, we have some really neat things planned that we cannot fully disclose yet. However, surely everyone who attended SuperNationals 20 will remember how we approach milestone anniversaries. After the craziness of last year – of the last few years – SKUSA is in the mood to make this year’s race bigger and badder than ever!”
