Electric Championship Cancelled

A lack of entries has prompted the promoter of the German Electric Kart Championship to cancel the 2022 edition of the series.

“After four successful years with exciting races and a strong international participation, the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM) will no longer be held in 2022” a series press release stated.

“A few weeks before the planned start of the season, the championship does not register the necessary number of participants to be held successfully.

“The Corona pandemic has already made life difficult for motorsport for the last two years, now there are additional global circumstances that complicate the current situation. Unfortunately, this is also noticeable in the DEKM.”

In 2018, the DEKM was held in Germany for the first time and made history as the world’s first all-electric kart racing series. Since then, drivers from various locations around the globe have competed and delivered great duels on the race track.

The series is hoping to re-charge for a fresh start in 2023.
