Healthy Turnout for IKC Junior Development Day

It was a fantastic turnout at the Junior Development Day held at Ipswich Kart Club on Wednesday 13 April. Full of excitement, 12 young karters and their families were lined up and ready to go half an hour before the gates were due to open!

The day started with a welcome from the Club President, general introductions, and then an interactive track walk.

Les Allen was on board for the day and shared his valuable knowledge from a technical point of view. Russell Innes held flag sessions with the young drivers and provided some insight into what to expect on a race day. A BBQ lunch, put on by the club, was a great chance for everyone to get acquainted and share in the camaraderie of the day.

Everyone enjoyed one on one coaching and feedback and went home with a goodie bag which included a personalised workbook with notes to use and refer to into the future.

“We were really pleased with the turn out on the day given the short notice of our first event of this type at the club” said Scott Cleveland, IKC President.

“The feedback we have received by the families has been overwhelmingly positive. The club plans to continue supporting initiatives such as these to encourage new karters to transition into racing, and to help support driver training and development.”

“Watching how each driver improved during the day was very rewarding – I loved every moment” commented Jess Golding, host trainer for the day.

“The club and I are already making plans to make the Junior Development Day a regular event on the calendar, and we are talking about hosting a similar event for senior drivers in the coming weeks.”

Special thanks to Ipswich Kart Club, DPE Kart Superstore, Scott Cleveland, Russell Innes, Les Allen, Jess Golding, and Simon Russell from TvHouse for capturing some fantastic images and footage from the day.
