Jackson Brasher has had a block buster start to the 2022 season!
Brasher has been on the podium in every meeting he has so far raced and took out the ultra-competitive Australian Kart Championship shakedown meeting! Brasher kicked off his assault at the Victorian Golden Power Series over the weekend and was without a doubt one of the main chances going into the weekend.
Jackson used the two sessions of practice Saturday morning to fine tune the kart before Saturday afternoon qualifying. Brasher hit the track for Saturday afternoon qualifying and was immediately right in the battle for pole position with Jensen Damaschino and Archie Bristow. The A1 Engines Motorsport powered entry was doing everything he could with other two drivers showing great pace. In an awesome session, Jackson was able to set the fastest time late in the session and put his kart on pole position for the opening two heats!
Heat one came and the start was all important to Brashers charge. The Kart Class backed entry got the jump off the start and led the opening few laps with Damaschino right behind. Jackson dropped to position two but was stalking the back of the race leader trying to get back through. Brasher copped some unfortunate bad luck, dropping to position five due to some lap traffic where he finished the opening heat.
Brasher looked to heat two and was determined to bounce back after the incident in heat number one. Jackson jumped away well but had Damaschino and Bristow for company in a three way battle at the front. The A1 Engines Motorsport powered driver lead most of the race with Damaschino applying the pressure in the back end of the race. In a great battle to finish the race Brasher was able to come home in second spot in a great battle on the final few laps. This concluding Jackson’s Saturday racing and the team was now looking to Sunday to improve.
Brasher was starting out of position three for the third heat and was looking to achieve a clean get away. The Kart Classed sponsored entry immediately jumped up into second spot and was stalking the back of the race leader, Jensen Damaschino. Jackson showed tremendous fight and great pace to be right on the back of the race leader and pushing for the win. Brasher crossed the line once again in position two gathering more good points for his championship and setting up a fascinating final.
Brasher was once again off position three for the final and was able to jump up to position two straight away. Brasher was right in the battle for victory but once again was held up in lap marker traffic, dropping him back to third position. Unfortunately, the A1 Engines Motorsport backed and powered driver wasn’t able to make up the ground lost. Brasher was still able to come away with a strong podium finish in third spot.
Damien’s father spoke weekend of a fun weekend. “Goulburn Valley put on an awesome event, we always love getting away and camping with the A1 crew”.
Jackson now has full focus on his next event. “Congrats to Jenson and Archie, it was awesome to race these guys again. Now I’m focused on AKC next week”.
Jackson will be back behind this Friday at the opening round of the Australian Kart Championships at the Go Kart Club of Victoria.
