It was another successful year for the FIA Karting Championships despite the continuation of the COVID-19 Pandemic, which brought along new challenges. It is a relief and pleasure to reflect on a most accomplished racing season. 2021 proved once again the strength and commitment of a very motivated industry, which together accomplished to host all rounds of the FIA Karting European and World Championships despite the difficulties.
As the year progressed and the COVID-19 restrictions declined and the sense of normality began to return to us all. By the time we reached the KZ World Championship, which was held in Sweden in September, we were able once again to permit public and focus on the entertainment aspect. None of us will forget the immense firework show and great performance by the Swedish air force. This was a particularly special moment for me personally, as it was the sign, we can return to our original targets and plans set out some four years ago.
Unfortunately, despite the return feeling of normality within the EU, the risk to travel to Brazil to host the 2021 World Championship once again forced the venue to be changed just some weeks prior to the new date set. I must once again congratulate all the staff at karting club Campillos, and the track owner Mr. Martin Reuvers for the incredible work and reconstruction of the venue which was carried out in record speed. It was a truly incredible world championship which I’m sure will stay in the hearts of those who attended for many years to come.

My final thoughts on the year are only of appreciation and gratitude for all those who was involved in the season, and all the efforts from teams, drivers, parents, officials, circuits, and staff members. Without whom none of the racing year would have been possible. I feel very honoured to have the opportunity to be part of this industry and look forward to what the future will bring as we turn the page on this chapter and prepare to start the next.
