The Chair of Karting NSW, Ilona Meyer, has resigned. Meyer will step down from the position at the end of the year, but will continue to work with the board of KNSW regarding legal matters.
The KNSW announcement on the matter, and Meyer’s replacement, is below.
Karting NSW would like to thank our Chair, Ilona Meyer, for her contribution as a volunteer director to our sport for almost 5 years.
Ilona has been instrumental in assisting with all operational, governance, legal and regulatory matters during her term on the board, in addition to leading the recovery of the sport through Covid-19 during 2020 and 2021.
Ilona led the initiatives of #RaceLikeAGirl and #TogetherWeRace in addition to our environmental partnership with #SEA Sports Environment Alliance. Ilona advocated for KNSW with Sports NSW and the NSW Office of Sport and personally penned our Annual Reports. She attended many karting events and most recently appeared in the NSW Supreme Court, where KNSW was successful in recovering over $700,000 plus legal costs for KNSW Clubs.
Ilona said “I am incredibly proud of what KNSW has achieved to date, in what can only be described as unprecedented with outstanding results. I know that I leave the sport much better than where I found it. I do genuinely wish the board and KNSW every success in its future direction.“

Ilona’s term was to expire in March 2022 and will step down from her position on 31 December 2021 and feels the time is right to hand the reigns over to the capable hands of Paul Brennan AM at the end of this year.
Paul is a high calibre executive who has previously worked in a wide range of businesses, nationally and internationally including Manufacturing, Health, Logistics, Public Transport and IT.
Appointed a Member of the Order Of Australia (AM) in 2014 for significant service to business and commerce, the board of Karting NSW very much looks forward to working with Paul and welcomes him as Chair.
KNSW wishes to sincerely thank Ilona for her time and enormous contribution to our sport during her time on the board.
Ilona will continue to work together with the board of Karting NSW regarding legal matters.
