Driver PR: Chadd Moore, ELKC Race Day

Chadd Moore resumed his 2021 karting season at the November Eastern Lions Kart Club over the weekend. Moore made the move to the KA3 Junior ranks mid-season, along with changing to the Tecno Chassis, he was looking to continue progressing in the class.

With a large and competitive field in the premier junior class, young Chadd was in for a tough weekend of racing. The heavens opened up Saturday night and the rain fell, meaning a wet drying track to start Sunday morning qualifying.

Moore struggled with track conditions in the session. The Country Kart Spares backed entry found it difficult to get a competitive lap in due to this. Chadd set a time just outside the top twenty in position twenty-one and was now looking forward to the heats, trying to move forward in position. Moore was looking to get a clean get away and achieved exactly that in heat one, moving up two spots on the opening lap. The DJM Race Engineering supported entry had stronger pace than his qualifying and made his way up to position eighteen mid race. Moore crossed the line in heat one in position eighteen, making up three spots from his starting position.

Heat two and Moore had another clean get away moving up inside the top twenty and looking to make up further spots. The Tecno Victoria karter made his way up to position eighteen by mid race but was in a hard battle for that position. Chad came home with nineteenth position overall, improving his result from his qualifying result. Moore looked to heat three where he was able to get another clean get away and move up spots. The DJM Race Engineering backed entry was on the edge of the top fifteen and showing his best pace for the day so far. Young Chadd was able to stay there for the remainder of the race and came away with his best result of the day in position sixteen.

The Country Kart Spares backed entry now looked to the final with excitement! Moore made another strong start in the final, showing he meant business. The Tecno Victoria driver was up into the top fifteen and looking to continue his forward movement up the field. Unfortunately for the Country Kart Spares backed entry his final came to an abrupt end mid race when he was involved in a collision on circuit and this put him out of the race.

Chadds father Shane noted his son had a tough weekend. “Chadd has had a rough weekend this weekend. He did a good job in the heats always moving up from his starting position. He broke his way into the top fifteen in the final before an incident out of his control ruined his race. He’ll dust himself off and we look forward to the next race meeting”.
