AWC Ends Involvement With National Karting

Andrew & Margaret Walter have decided to end the AWC Motorsport Academy’s karting team. Team director Andrew Walter posted the following on the team’s social media.

Margaret and I wish to advise that AWCMA will be closing down our involvement in the national KARTING scene, but will continue to support CS Pure Racing as Chris (Schofield) changes direction to better establish his business. Margie & I have enjoyed the journey in this amazing sport, but as we get older it becomes time to move on and enjoy grandkids and our travels etc.

In late 2015 Jonathan Males suggested we should look at forming a race team, with the intention of supporting local Tasmanian drivers to compete at a national level. Hence AWCMA was established. Later on, a relationship with Chris Schofield, CS Pure Racing, was formed, which took AWCMA to the next level, with immediate success with Tasmanian Lochie Dalton taking out a national championship in KA1 and including 5 state championships and other podiums along the way.

AWCMA’s Lochie Dalton

AWCMA and CS Pure Racing are proud to see some of our young drivers progressing to cars and, with success. Jay Hanson (TCR), Lochie Dalton (Toyota 86 series), Hugh Barter (European Formula 4), Campbell Logan (Hyundai Excel), Callum Bishop (with a state title in Formula V) and Xavier Kokai (Formula Ford).

AWC Motorsport will not disappear completely. We will still continue to have various involvements in motorsport, & take great interest in all events.

There are so many people that provided support along the way, too many to mention. We thank you all so much.

To all those in the industry we both wish you all the best for the future.

Andrew & Margaret Walter.
