The Norton Rogers Memorial Meet

from Kev ‘The Noise’ Davies

Gladstone Kart Club’s Formula K circuit played host to the 2021 Norton Rogers Memorial meeting last weekend which also included the much anticipated Calide Manufacturing Company 100 lap 4SS Enduro.

It attracted 100 drivers from all over the state who not only got to enjoy this fantastic venue during the weekend but also spectate (or participate if they were brave) in the 4SS Enduro, listen to live music Saturday night and even a bouncy castle for the kids.

The sprint racers got to enjoy practice under lights Friday night, qualifying, four heats of racing during Saturday & Sunday and then a huge 16 lap final.

The enduro was a spectacular success, and with high-profile Karting Australia officials in attendance (Annette English, Shawn English & Bret Aird) what could possibly go wrong?!

17 drivers – including myself in the Ant Race Engines #78 entry – enjoyed an amazing enduro experience under lights. It was smiles all round!

Eventual winner Jack Munro took the winner’s purse home of $500. Runners up were the dream team of Danny Palmer & James Hogan grabbing $200 and in third winning $100 were Richard Litzow & bobble-head Wayne Ohl. For the record, our team finished 4th… and won no money! Hahaha.
