FIA Prize Giving by Remote Control

from FIA Karting

Exceptionally, the FIA Karting Prize Giving Ceremony could not take place this year due to health constraints. Nevertheless, the 2020 FIA Karting Champions were honoured during the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony on 18th December 2020.

This event used a special format due to the ban on gatherings imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Masters of Ceremonies Nicki Shields and Tom Kristensen joined FIA President Jean Todt in presenting the gala evening live from the InterContinental Hotel in Geneva.

The Champions and many other winners were rewarded for their achievements in a video conference on Zoom. A slightly delayed broadcast on Facebook Live enabled the Motorsport and Karting community to follow the event from a distance.

During the FIA Karting World  Championship, Callum Bradshaw, 19, was crowned OK World Champion and his fellow British driver Freddie Slater won the OK-Junior title. After a 15-year quest, Frenchman Jeremy Iglesias achieved his goal of becoming World Champion in the KZ category at the age of 33.

As every year, the CIK-FIA has produced its Best-Of of the FIA Karting season in the form of a book richly illustrated with photos which will soon be sent to the Champions and available on the website fiakarting.com.

The preliminary press conference and the FIA Awards Ceremony can be seen on the FIA Facebook page (the karting awards commence at 35:17).
