Preview: Tasmanian Kart Championship

from Stuart Lee, LKC

The Launceston Kart Club is set to hold the Tasmanian Kart Championships this weekend with karters from all over the state along with a number of mainlanders converging on the Archerville Raceway.

The Championship has attracted 105 entries – see class entry lists below.

The meeting commences on Friday with unofficial practice, then qualifying and heat races on Saturday and the final round of heats and the all-important final on Sunday.

Local nine-year-old Ayrton Myers will contest his first ever State Championship this weekend.

LKC President Stuart Lee said it had been a trying year for the club with the Covid 19 pandemic and to have the Championship actually run is very pleasing as “a number of months ago it was touch and go”.

“It is also pleasing to see our borders open just in time for a few mainlanders to make the trip and contest our championships” he said.

Calvin Broad will be one to watch in the KA3 Senior Light field.

Entry is free for spectators and there is a full canteen facility for competitors and spectators on all three days.

One of our youngest local competitors competing this weekend in their first State Title is 9-year-old Ayrton Myers. Aryton has been busy practicing and will be in for  a shot of a podium come Sundays final.

Another local also in for a podium if not a win is Calvin Broad who will be contesting the KA3 Senior Light class.
