Dear IKC members,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to you all in an open letter to announce I will be stepping down as President of Ipswich Kart Club. Please respect this is a decision made purely by me for myself, not bought on by KA, my family, my partner it’s simply my own choice. This isn’t a decision I’ve taken lightly and hasn’t been an easy decision to make, but one that had to be made for me.

Just Over 3 years ago I took on the role of rebuilding IKC (this wasn’t caused by any wrong doing in past committees) and set myself some big goals. In the past 3 years I have not only achieved these goals but smashed them out of the park!! This hasn’t just been myself but my dedicated team behind me every step of the way to make IKC simply the BEST, MOST PROGRESSIVE club in the country by a long, long way and I can’t thank them enough.

When I took over we had $45k in the bank and just over 500 members with no AKC rounds awarded to IKC. 3 years later we have $200k in the bank and close to 800 members with AKC now locked in as a permanent figure as well as major facility upgrades. These results are obviously great but not what I pride myself on!! I pride myself on the culture, friendships and family’s bought back to IKC just like it was when I was a child!! This is what gives me satisfaction of knowing I have done a good job for the sport of Karting!! That’s right simply Karting the best form or Motorsport in the world. For me it’s time to hand over to a fresh president whom I know will do a fantastic job.

To all the members, their families and all the kids, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for all your wonderful support and kind words over the past three years. I will certainly still be around but it’s time to spend quality time with my kids, family and my beautiful partner who have all been super supportive whilst I’ve spent 100’s of hours being president of IKC.

Yours in Karting
Scott Howard
