Calls For Life Ban After World Championship Incident

Karters and fans from around the world – including former F1 World Champion Jenson Button – are calling for a life ban for Luca Corberi due to his behavior at the KZ World Championship at Lonato.

A lap 9 incident between Corberi and Paolo Ippolito resulted in Corberi in the barriers and out of the race. Corberi then removed the nose cone from his kart and hurled it at Ippolito as karts sped by the next lap.

After the race, Corberi – the son of the circuit owner – entered parc ferme and physically assaulted Ippolito.

Corberi’s father then charged into parc ferme, one would have presumed to help control his 23-year-old son. But no, Corberi senior pummeled Ippolito into the fence!

Both Corberi (Tony Kart) and Ippolito (CRG) were disqualified from the final for “causing a collision” and “(very) bad maneuver” respectively.

As yet, there has been no official comment from the FIA.

“Luca Corberi has just destroyed any chance he had at a racing career after his disgusting behaviour today at the FIA Karting World champs” 2009 F1 world champ Jenson Button wrote on social media.

“His father owns the circuit and is seen power driving the guy into a wall, Life ban for both of these idiots please.”
