What a week it has been at the Launceston Kart Club, from 5 inches of snow falling on Tuesday night to a great Sunday race day.
The track and club was completely covered in snow up until Friday morning when the temperature finally rose into double figures and allowed the snow to melt, however there were still a few spots around the track on Sunday.
On track, the action was first class with the feature being the three KA3 divisions of KA3 Junior, KA3 Senior Light and KA3 Senior Medium.
The Clubman Cup was first ran in 1997 and has seen the best in Tasmania via for a covered Cup each year. 2020 was no different with 15 drivers in the light class and 13 in the medium.
On the day, Toby Callow claimed the KA3 Junior win from William Blair and Jorja Edwards. Ethan Wyllie took the honours in KA3 Senior Light ahead of Calvin Broad and Fletchers Bellars, whilst Mitchel Evans won KA3 Senior Medium with Nathan Zuj and Alastair Lee next.
The Phil Goss Memorial, which is open to all Over 40 drivers, was won by Shane Stonehouse on votes from Scott Hildyard and Malcolm Watson.
The final race of the day was a combined KA3 Senior 21 lap feature at the Championship weight of 159kg. With $250 to the winner courtesy of Zane Wyatt from CJ Marine, 27 of the 28 senior drivers entered with grid spots randomly drawn. In the end Ethan Wyllie took home the money from Alastair Lee and Lochie Dalton.
A number of lap records were also set on the day with Elliot Bellars lowering the lap record in KA4 Junior Light, Troy Sheahen in TaG Restricted Medium whilst two of the club oldest lap records were broken with the old marks being set back @ the 2008 Australian Nationals in what was then Clubman Light and Clubman Heavy with Ethan Wyllie setting the KA3 Senior Light record @ 35.392 and Alastair Lee in KA3 Senior Medium @ 35.937, all winning a $50 voucher from The Jailhouse Grill.
