TaG Restricted Titles at Ipswich This Saturday

After a hugely successful “Return to Racing” event at Ipswich Kart Club on 18th of July which attracted 215 entries, racing is back again at Ipswich this Saturday with the official return to the IKC Club Championship and the hosting of the TAG Restricted Titles.

Entries have already exceeded 230 270 and will most likely reach 250 by close of entries on Wednesday night and will include several current and former Supercar drivers racing in KZ2 or TAG Heavy/Light.

In the TAG Restricted Feature Classes, the TAG Restricted Light class is very open with a multitude of potential winners, Brent Reading, Lucas O’Connor and Dallas Oksanen the likely pacesetters. In TAG Restricted Medium, Tom Steinfort, Ashley Lester and Pete Sattler are in good form, but new dad Jason Smith could challenge in his first outing since the lockdown. The TAG Restricted Masters will see the likes of Adam Surplice, John Heath and Nigel Brokenshire battling for the win.

The Cadet classes again have attracted big entry numbers, with more new drivers having their very first outings in the huge fields, over 30 entries have been accepted in Cadet 12 and 20 in Cadet 9.

KA4 Junior and KA3 Junior again have attracted quality fields, over 20 in each, whilst the 4SS fields will be back in force at IKC on Saturday and entries are building nicely as the continued growth of the 4 stroke brigade builds. KA3 Senior Light will once again be a great spectacle with a group of very talented young drivers battling it out. Declan and Jace Matthews and Jai Brown the likely frontrunners.

The TAG Light and TAG Heavy fields are full of high level talent. Scott Sorensen makes a return to TAG Light to take on the new young guns like Kurtis Tennant and Luke Pink. Brendan Nelson as usual will be the frontrunner in TAG Heavy but it will be fascinating to see how the returning to karting Kel Treseder goes, as well as some young bloke called Scott McLaughlin.

KZ2 returns again to Ipswich and they will be joined by the DD2 brigade, making a huge field of these super fast machines. Troy Loeskow, Chris Hays and Jac Preston had great battles at the “Return to Racing” event 2 weeks ago. Reece Cohen, Scott McLaughlin and maybe a couple of other Supercar drivers will be amongst a host of others going hard in this class. They will be joined by the DD2 boys. Troy Betherton, Scott Howard and Troy Morrisey, amongst those eager to get back on track after such a long period of inactivity.

With such large entry numbers, spectator attendance will have to be very controlled and may not even be available under the current COVID Restrictions. IKC will hopefully be able to make an announcement on this on Wednesday night or Thursday morning.
