KA Working Toward National Racing Return

As the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic continue to ease, Karting Australia advises that it is continuing to work towards the return of National Level Racing.

Round Four of the 2020 SP Tools Australian Kart Championship (AKC), scheduled to be hosted by the Newcastle Kart Racing Club on July 31-August 2 has been postponed, as has the Rotax Pro Tour (Pro Tour) Rounds scheduled for July 18/19 and August 29/30.

We are working through a number of different scenarios for the recommencement of AKC and Pro Tour.

We aim to conduct a minimum of three rounds of both AKC and Pro Tour in the last four months of 2020.

Obviously we need to have open State borders to be able to do both AKC and Pro Tour. We also need clarity on the number of people that are permitted to gather at venues to be increased in each State to levels that will enable us to run the events. We have a number of contingency plans to deal with this issue but until the State Border closures are lifted we will have to remain in a holding pattern.

Once we have the clarity that we need and a revised schedule that we can achieve can be developed, we will publish it and give you all the maximum amount of notice.
