Coffs Harbour ‘Out of Iso’ Race Report

by Kev “The Noise” Davies

What a fantastic weekend at Coffs Harbour kart club!

Saturday practice was great to see how the drivers handle this circuit and Sunday saw 50 drivers compete for the honours in perfect conditions.

The Novices & Rookies gave us some us some of the best racing all day, with a special mention for Joel Lammers getting his first ever win and winning the day in Rookies! Also a first win for Jacob Brown saw him finish second. Byron Burns came home third.

In the Novices, a fabulous battle again saw Travis Dhu eventually take the win ahead of another great performance from Luca Wasley in second and Brock Helm brought it home third.

The TaG Restricted Light saw local gun Zane Morrison trying to tame Lucas O’Connor. Lucas got the win with a very convincing display but Zane didn’t bank on Anthony Nevins putting together a fabulous final and taking second place in the end, meaning he and Zane were tied on 10 points.

TaG Restricted Heavy saw a victory for Joseph Woodcock. Winston Heywood did everything he could to stay ahead of the flying number 5 but just one point separated them in the end. Darren Funston coming home third was probably the reason Heywood missed out on a win after he got second place in heat 2 ahead of Heywood.

In the juniors, Jacob Scott got a brilliant win ahead of Jamie Newton and Slade Orsmond in third with Sam Tattersall getting excluded from the meeting – don’t be surprised when he comes back at Norther Zone hungry for success!

In the TaG Light class, Zane Morrison showed them all how it’s done! James Hamer came home second and Scott Hargans a close third.

In the TaG Heavy class, Nicholas Essery got himself a third place just behind Tye Ruddy, but neither of them were a match for the Cleveland Steamer who took the win comfortably.

In the Senior Performance Lights, Ash Campbell was unstoppable and not even Team Hughes could catch him with Ryan finishing second whilst Rory brought it home third.

In the battle of the P-Platers; Lights first, and some great racing from Bryson Shepherdson and Brodie Pearce was only over shadowed by the hard chargers Phoenix Harrison & Bradley Schneider. Daniel Ridge had to play second fiddle to the flyers out front.
