Karting NSW Reveal Amended Calendar

Karting NSW has released an amended calendar for the rest of 2020. In addition to getting club racing going, the organisation is focused on running four of its key events across four months, commencing with the 50th Anniversary edition of the Lismore Young Guns Title at the end of August.

KNSW press release

We are pleased and very excited to be able to now release our amended race calendar for 2020!

With the release of each annual race calendar, we understand that many clubs make plans, competitors book accommodation in advance and families make arrangements to plan out their racing for the year. Our aim has been to minimise changes.

The key changes only relate to major events – which have been rescheduled to later in the race calendar – to ensure we can get maximum attendance (including our interstate karters) and allows celebration of certain anniversary events.

The ACT & NSW State Sprint Titles have been moved to later in the calendar year to ensure the best possibility of the event running, giving competitors the chance to be crowned State Champions for 2020.

These events have a deadline of September 1, 2020 to ensure that clubs and competitors have ample time to prepare accordingly. If competitive racing doesn’t resume in NSW by September 1, 2020; then unfortunately these events won’t go ahead this year.

We have decided to cancel the proposed KNSW Australian Titles and Rotax Classic for 2020. We look forward to start planning for these events and will launch them within a full racing year in 2021.

We also think it is important to respect and celebrate the anniversary milestone events of our clubs.

We all benefit today from the hundreds of hours karting volunteers have given to our clubs and our sport over the years. It is only fitting to celebrate these important event anniversaries this year.

We also look forward to releasing further dates for our Endurance Clubs (TEKA and 4SKA) shortly.

Most importantly, we wish to thank all KNSW Clubs that have been working closely with us to ensure we have a full and exciting racing calendar for the remainder of 2020!

We encourage you all to become familiar with the KNSW Guidelines to Reduce Covid-19 on Return to Karting.

Now we just wait for the green light from NSW Health!
