Margutti Trophy Called Off

International karting is being affected by the Corona virus with news the famous Andrea Margutti Trophy event in Italy, scheduled for this Sunday, will not take place.

A Corona virus emergency has been issued by the Italian Health Ministery. In conjunction with Regione Lombardia, event organiser, Parma Motorsport, has declared that due to force majeure reasons not attributable to them, the race is postponed to a later date – though there is no indication of when that might be.

It was to have been the 31st annual running of the event.

According to The Age, the Italian government is under pressure to suspend free movement between neighbouring countries as authorities battle a virus cluster that threatens to spread across central Europe.
