Karting Quickies

Welcome karters to the 2020 race season! Let’s kick off the new race year with some Karting Quickies (and left overs from 2019);

PRODUCT/TECH – demonstrated in the video below is CRG’s Ackerman adjustment bracket:

FIA KARTING – video highlights package of the international karting categorizes in 2019. First up, the KZ2 season:

WA KZ2 – Registrations will soon be open for the 2020 Urban Mews WA KZ2 Kart Series. The seven event (5 round) calendar is:

KA100 RESTRICTOR UPDATE – The KA100 ‘type 2’ restricted manifold is now available and eligible for immediate use in KA competition. The Type 2 is the same dimension as the Type 1, however the internal profile is different (straight taper rather than curved). All new KA100 engines sold from December 2019 are supplied with the Type 2 restrictor as standard. It is also available to purchase separately from IAME dealers.

LEFTY LOOSEY – ‘The Lefty’ chassis by Nitro-Kart won on debut with owner and multi-time national champion Nick Tucker behind the wheel at the Cup Karts North America Grand Nationals 3 recently. The chassis allows 4-stroke engines that are typically inboard drive (when mounted on the right) to mount on the left, thus becoming outboard drive and able to ditch two-part axle sprockets.

EVENTS – The 4-Stroke NSW race calendar for 2020 has been confirmed. Round One will be a ‘gala’ weekend with TEKA and 4SKA on the same program (rest assured this is not a date clash, it’s a combined event that will be a huge season launch for both clubs). Round 2 moves on to the new layout at Canberra! Event formats will be announced shortly.

EVENTS #2 – TEKA’s calendar for 2020.

RETRO – An international superkart event took place at one of the most unsuitable venues conceivable – and it would regularly attract over 20,000 spectators. Here’s a great retro film about the Heysham Head John Player World Cup, produced by karting1.co.uk.

IAME WARS IN THE USA – Some clever, and entertaining, marketing from the people at IAME USA West, “Fact vs Fiction”:

CLUB NEWS – Cairns Kart Racing Club Inc is a step closer to a new track with the submission of a project master plan to Council.

NEW EVO 2 – It might be holiday season, but that hasn’t stopped Woody from working on another 125 EVO 2 Woodgate superkart chassis.
