Canberra Kart Racing Club say the track extension at Circuit Mark Webber is on schedule for a late February 2020 opening.
“We met with DGroup this afternoon and we can confirm that Stage One of the track extension will be ready for racing by the end February 2020” CKRC Track Extension Committee member, Greg Jones said yesterday.
“The team at DGroup are doing a great job at ensuring they meet the deadline. It is there for everyone to see how professionally they go about their business and the Track Extension Committee are very confident in their abilities.
“We are also now in the process of negotiating Stage 2 of the Track Extension and we are looking forward to announcing more fantastic and exciting outcomes for the club.”
Club President, Bob Harnas, added; “this is what we’ve all been waiting for, the Track Extension Committee have been working hard behind the scenes to make this happen.”
“We understand the closure of the track is not ideal, but in the interest of safety and meeting the deadline, there really isn’t much option” Harnas said.
“I’m sure once the extension is open everyone will forget about the relatively short time the track was closed.”
CKRC is looking forward to welcoming everyone to the new track.
