State of Origin Battle at Ultimate Club Racer

from Karting Australia

State pride will be on the line during November’s Ultimate Club Racer I at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia.

With each State and the Northern Territory to be represented by the best Club-level drivers from across the Country, Saturday night will feature a special State of Origin Teams Race.

The Teams Race will be a multi-part race where each State and the Northern Territory will have up to three representatives across the Cadet 12, KA4 Junior, 4SS and Restricted 125 Classes. It will be a stand-alone feature of the event.

Providing extra State pride, there will be a Driver appointed by the respective State Karting Association as Captain for the event and be honoured as the flag bearer in the official proceedings.

“The Ultimate Club Racer I is all about bringing the best Club Racers from all across the Country together to compete against each other on an even playing field. The State of Origin Teams Race takes this concept to the next level,” said Karting Australia Chief Operating Officer Lee Hanatschek.

“Karting as a whole is very much an individual sport, with little opportunity to have a true team spirit. This event is focused on being different from the ‘rest’ and really providing the opportunity for people to have ‘State Pride’ and cheering on their fellow racers.

“We will be encouraging people to take pride in their State colours and iconic emblems.”

The three representatives for the State of Origin Teams Race will be selected from their overall position in the SP Tools Club Driver Rankings. The Cadet 12 representatives will then draw a starting position for each member of the Team in the respective Part of the Race.

Points will be awarded based on a Driver’s finishing position in each Part of the Race with the winning State or Territory decided by the highest number of points accumulated by their Drivers. Should a smaller State or Territory have less than three Drivers in attendance per Class, the Team Captain will have the ability to ‘draft’ in a Driver from another State to represent their Team.

The pit layout at the Ultimate Club Racer will also be unique with drivers from each State allocated an area together to provide more State pride than ever before.

More than 120 drivers have already confirmed their invitation to the November 1-3. If you haven’t received an invite but have competed in multiple Club Driver Rankings events in 2019 and would like to be on the grid at The Bend please complete the application form that is available by clicking here.
