TOUGHER THAN F1 – Haas F1 driver Romain Gosjean confirms karting (specifically, shifter karts) is more tiring than Formula 1. “I went go-karting with my friends with a 125cc gearbox and I was more tired than doing a Formula 1 race” he told motorsport.com. Read the article HERE.


KARTS2VEES – Fifteen-year-old Victorian karter Reef McCarthy has made quick progress in Formula Vee, taking out his first race win at the Victorian State Race Series at Winton recently. McCarthy started racing Vees last year while still competing at GKCV club days, Golden Power and State Series. He says that years of karting have given him the skills to be able to transition into circuit racing quickly and be competitive in a short period of time.


RKA EVENT – Retro Karting Australia round 3 will be held at Lithgow and run in combination with the CDKC’s club championship round. RKA will be fielding four classes for the weekend.


MORE RKA – Retro Karting Australia has announced the 2019 Victorian State Championship will be held at Geelong on October 19-20.

MUSCLE KARTS – Superkarting should get a high exposure hit performing in front of the Australian Muscle Car Masters crowd at Sydney Motorsport Park later this year. The second round of the SKA Nationals takes place at the venue at the same time, August 31st -September 1st.

CARETAKER – Combined Districts Kart Club is seeking a Caretaker for the club’s race track at Lithgow. “We are after a responsible and motivated person or couple to live on site” the club posted on social media. “Accommodation is supplied in return for some volunteer work for the club, mainly running practice on weekends and some general maintenance and care of the property.” Interested applicants should contact Russell: president@cdkc.com.au


BHKC to KNSW – Karting NSW and Broken Hill Kart Club issued a joint press release recently announcing the club has voted to join KNSW. KNSW Chairman Dave Filipetto welcomed the club that “provides yet another regional track for all KNSW members to now enjoy. John Ray and Mitchell Hooper from Broken Hill Kart Club Inc. are excited about the new direction the club has taken in joining KNSW, with new flexibilities and opportunities to expand their membership base and improve racing for all members and guests.”


FK SUCCESS – Formula K Kart drivers enjoyed a successful weekend at the recent Rotax Pro Tour held at ELKC in Victoria. Highlight was Kristian Janev steering his FK Monster kart to victory in Mini MAX with a full clean sweep of all heats, pre final and a 4.2 second victory in the final. Rick Pringle grabbed the second podium finish for the Formula K brand with 3rd place in Rotax Heavy driving his FK Dragon. Summary:

  • Mini Max – 1st Kristian Janev, 6th Xavier Avramides, 8th Ben Munro
  • Rotax Light – 14th Bradley Hewson
  • Rotax Heavy – 3rd Rick Pringle
  • DD2 – 8th Daniel Pegg

MATES RATES – The Dublin Winter Cup next month will include Bring-A-Mate track sessions after each round of racing. If you’re in the area, take your non-karting friends and relatives so they can give karting a go!



NEW KARTS – Jochen Orr and Shane Box were the two big winners from DPE Kart Superstore’s EOFY Sales, getting to choose a brand new kart, either a Praga Dragon Evo2 Senior kart (valued at $5,600) or a Corsa Cadet kart (valued at $3,800). The giveaway was for all in-store and online customers spending $50 or more on Saturday 22nd, and customers from the previous week’s QLD sale were also added into the draw. Jochen made his purchase in-store in Melbourne, while Shane utilised the convenience of ordering online.


VIDEO – NSW KZ2 Super Series highlights of Round 3 from Dubbo Kart Club. The next event is racing under lights at Griffith Kart Club on Saturday the 7th of September.


VIDEO 2 – NSW 4SS Thundersports Tour, round 4 highlights from Dubbo. The series will now have a short break over winter, but the Tour returns to action at Griffith on September 7 for a race under the stars. Make sure those clear visors are nice and clean, racers!

EMMO SPRUIKS KARTING – F1 and Indy 500 champion Emerson Fittipaldi was at Adria Raceway, final round of the WSK Euro series, supporting Emmo Jnr who raced OKJ with Ricky Flynn Motorsport.

WIMMERA WORKERS – Working bee at Wimmera Kart Club saw further items checked off the list as the club prepares the Horsham facility for Victorian Country Series Round 5 in September.
