First up the Comer A & B come out combined and in the A’s Daniel Betts came home second behind the lightning quick Lachlan Hudson having to thread their way through the slower Comer B’s they showed great skills in doing so.

Comer A podium

In the Comer B’s Fred Junior Shephard came home 5th just behind Charlie Theobald on points. A brilliant turn around in form by Aston Whitbread saw him turn two 4th places in heats 1 & 2 and get second place in both heat 3 & the final! That was enough to secure 3rd place over all just behind the second place finisher Ben Shephard who had a very consistent day. But the winner on the day, enjoying a clean sweep of victories, was little Lucas Welke!

Comer B podium

Moving onto the Open Performance. In his first ever race Troy Kubecek, after dnf in heat one, managed to get enough points to finish 7th overall! In 6th was the number 30 Brad Bryant and it would have been higher but for a dnf in the final. Tied on 61 points 4th & 5th place were Wes Whitbread & Terry Graham. Onto the podium positions and in 3rd it was the hard charging Nathan Collinson. In second the shifter kart driven by Mark Michels and winning the round with a second place in heat one then three wins after that, Elliot Thompson.

Open Performance podium. Elliot had to leave early so his first place trophy was collected for him.

Four strokes at Dalby Kart Club are probably the loudest you will ever hear! They are nothing short of amazing to watch and listen to. Coming home in 5 place was Luke Munoz, he was hot on the heels of girl racer Gabriel Lowry who was at Dalby to check out the track for team KnK & the 4SS crew! She did really well to 4th place on points and getting 3rd in the final. Onto the podium positions and finishing in 3rd was the super consistent Jamie Powell, the next pair battled hard and close all day long anyone could have won but today it was Micah Rodriguez who got the win and Craig Taylor settled for second.

Four-stroke podium

Moving onto the juniors, Stephanie Dyke brought the #18 kart home in 5th just behind Abbey McDonald in 4th. Onto the podium positions and Alex Casey grabbed 3rd place with some determined driving while Lukas Bliesner was just 4 points ahead to finish second. But none of the local favourites were a match for the factory JC driver Charlie White getting a clean sweep with four convincing wins!

Junior podium

Next up was the Teenagers and Will Marshall grabbed 5th place with some consistent driving. Isaac Bliesner did a Stella job to grab 4th, but from here on in it was JC kart domination and again this small country club witnessed what JC backed and supported drivers are capable of – it was a dominant showing from the three amigos and in 3rd place was the Ormeau flyer “WELZIE” Jack Wells. 1st and 2nd were tied on points, both Ryan Uhlmann & Oscar Targett finished on 94 points having shared two wins each. But what a display of precision driving it was!

Teenagers podium. Jack, Oscar & Ryan had to leave early so their medals were collected for them

Next up the Clubman Lights. With a great drive all day against the men, Julie Andrews brought the #22 kart home in 5th. In 4th it was Nathan Winning who was having close battles all day with eventual 3rd place getter Wayne Gilby. In second and deserved consistent second it was kart number 55 driven by Duncan Harrison, and that left another clean sweep on the day as four wins out of four gives Craig Taylor a pass to the top step of the podium!

Clubman Light podium

The last of the main classes, the Clubman Heavy and it was some fabulous racing all day that kept us on the edge of our seats. Fast Freddy Shephard finished in 5th just behind the #7 Scott Hudson. Moving onto the podium positions and David Lucht just did enough to secure 3rd and the celebration was a whole lap of fist pumping! Country style!! Just ahead of him the president of Dalby Kart Club, Tim Bliesner, grabbed second. But yes you guessed it a clean sweep again with Josh Betts taking 4 wins out of 4 to claim victory.

Clubman Heavy podium

Perhaps the most exciting race of the entire was the Ladies race! Yes, Dalby runs a ladies-only race as an addition to the days proceedings and just like the last time I attended, they gave “Kev the noise Davies” a go in a race! Against the ladies!! It was all going so well as myself and Julie Andrews aboard her #22 kart swapped places lap after lap until lap 7 when my kart unfortunately suffered an electrical failure – I’m calling sabotage lol !!

Ladies podium, with Kev the noise Davies joining in

Lots of give aways on the day as everyone who raced gets a gift from the trophy table. Plus a set of tyres were randomly drawn thanks to Thompson karting supplies.
