Round 2 of the Central Coast Speedway Kart Club Championship was postponed back in March due to adverse weather conditions.
But last Sunday June 23, the rerun was under the pump to get the round in before the skies opened. We successfully got through three full heats for each class before the weather beat us.
In Novice, our championship front runner, T Teodorovic, convincingly took out the first heat. Unfortunately, he had some bad luck whilst leading heat 2, which saw him miss out on the following two heats. Heat two, R Garland finished first, followed by I Hensby and then S Reed. Heat 4 saw Garland and Hensby in one and two again, with J Brook in third. At the end of racing, girl power reigned with R Garland first for the day, I Hensby second and S Reed in third place, who very humbly needed some convincing he’d made it to the podium.
KT Modified Light had yet another clean streak for N Thompson winning all four heats to take out the number one podium position for the day. There was some feisty driving between our winner and S Morley who took out second place after crossing with three 3rd places in the heats. J Knight took out third place by the skin of his teeth having placed 2nd in two of the heats.
Juniors continues to have a healthy class with seven entries. C Jones took out first place in all three heats, making him our first place for the day, followed by J Buettel who was in second place all day long. J Hensby did a fantastic job to achieve third place on the podium for the day.
KT Modified Heavy was a little light today with just 2 entries but they had loads of fun. Smiles could be seen on both faces all day. C Dormer taking out first and P Styles in second.
S Jones gave up a great show in the Open class. Boy those Rotaxes are fast!
KT Standard Heavy saw S Hosie taking out first place for the day after two wins and a second place in the heats. G Russell was improving his position with every heat, culminating in a win in heat 3 which earned him his second place podium spot. Third place was nabbed by B Hutchings.
In Rookies, J Bisset took out honours for the day after two heat wins and one second. D Kelly wasn’t far behind in second place after earning one win and a second in the heats. In third place was the ever-improving, C Mineef. Watch out boys, here she comes!
Then we have our KT Modified Super Heavy. A Ball once again finishing every race in first place. Second and thirds shared by P Farrow and C Blanch. Farrow took out overall second place with Blanch close behind in third.
See you all at Round 6 of the CCSKC Club Championship, the Alan Hann Memorial on Sunday, 7th July.
