Since the end of 2018, the guys at DR Racing Kart Australia have been pushing hard with their latest model karts from Italy.
After winning the Race of Stars in KA2 junior by a margin of 10 seconds, some people were saying that the kart is only a great wet weather kart. NOT true!
Since then the team has scored a podium position and fastest lap in the final at the first round of the AKC at a hot and sticky Ipswich kart club.
Now the guys at DR Racing Kart have made a deal with a young driver in William Seal, in conjunction with TWM, for the rest of the AKC, and it is already looking like it could be a winning combination for everyone involved. Last week at the AKC shakedown meeting at Newcastle, the guys achieved a one-two finish in the KA2 class with long time DR driver Reuben Goodall getting the best of the inter-team battle.
Q&A with DR Racing Kart Australia’s Team Principle, Chris Board
Q – Chris, how did this all came about?
CB – Well, we have had our eye on William for some time now, as not only a talent of the future, but a massive talent right now.
We had spoken to Michael, his father, a few times and it all came down to budget. Michael and William were able to get some personal sponsors together and we made a deal.
Q – So where do you see this going in the future with the team, the brand etc?
CB – To be honest, Paul Scaricamazza and I have always known we have a fantastic product – you have to remember that Danilo Rossi is a 5 time karting world champion – he knows what it takes to make a go kart fast!
Now we have two great drivers in Reuben and William, and to be working with TWM is a fantastic opportunity for our team. Tom has proven that he is arguably the best karting mechanic in Australia and I only see it as a positive for DR Racing Kart Australia to be working with him!
