ROTAX EVO – More than just a kart engine… (www.rotax.com.au)


EVENT – Some preliminary detail for the 2019 Tasmanian State Championship later this year. The host club (Southern Tasmanian Kart club) will soon release an information package and discount deal to assist mainlanders getting across the ditch for their state championship.


EVENT – The third round of the NSW Northern Zone series will run in conjunction with round 5 of Lismore’s Club championship.


INDUSTRY – Growing US chassis brand GFC has added another dealer to it’s network. Full Throttle Karting, based in Los Angeles and owned by veteran industry member Andy Seesemann, has added the GFC kart to its product range. The GFC brand was established by American karter Gary Carlton in 2018. There are two models available – SS31 is a 30mm frame focused on the TaG market, while GT14 is a 32mm chassis for shifterkart competition.


INDY – Over 50 four-bangers at Indianapolis as the Margay Ignite Senior class roars through the opening corners to get their 14-lap final underway at the recent Battle at the Brickyard. Colin Warren ended up with the win. Here’s the start:


SA CUP OFF – Mount Gambier Karting Club has advised this weekend’s South Australian State Cup has been postponed. The club deemed there were insufficient nominations at the time entries closed to make the event viable. The club is hoping to have another crack at running the Cup later in the year.

NT HAULER – This is how you get 24 go karts from Perth to Darwin for the Northern Territory Championships! The Swiss Hutless truck left Perth on June 30 and of the two-dozen karts inside, five are from the Open Performance Group, and four of those are Twins and a Super X30. Qualifying kicks off Friday night, heats Saturday and finals on Sunday.

SWITCH – Celebrating his 13th birthday, James Wharton has revealed a new helmet paint scheme, plus a change of team. “Excited to announce I will be returning to the 🔴⚪️⚫️ (Parolin) colours” he posted on social media. “I want to take the opportunity to thank Ricky Flynn Motorsport and all the staff for their contribution to my career and am looking forward to joining Parolin Racing Kart at Le Mans for the FIA Karting Championship and beyond.”


4SSACT – Canberra is going 4SS. The club has posted it will be supporting 4SS at all future rounds in 2019 and beyond. “We have had a lot of inquiries and interest about this class of racing and can’t wait to see them running regularly at our club meetings.”
