Dutch Delight for Jordie Ford

Young Aussie Jordan Ford continued his strong overseas form, taking an amazing victory in Round 3 of the European Superkart Championship, his come-from-behind victory one of his best drives to date.

Ford started from the Mono Division pole under threatening skies at Assen TT circuit, but it was not all smooth sailing.

Having taken the lead early, disaster struck on lap 2 when Ford was struck from the side, damaging the rear wing and aerodynamics of his Anderson/DEA.

Amazingly, while entering the main straight to start lap four, Ford reached over and pushed the winglet out which caught in the wind and snapped off to the cheer of the large grandstand crowd.

With 7 laps to catch the leaders, Ford set about reeling them in with a string of record setting laps.

Moving to within striking distance, Jordan took current European Mono Cup champion Gavin Bennett into the final chicane with two laps to go. Now in second, Ford set about leader Paul Platt passing the multiple British Champion thru the Ramshoek curve with a lap and a half remaining. Ford then held sway to the chequered flag, winning by just on a second with Bennett out braking Platt into the final chicane to take second.

The victory sees Ford take a small lead in the championship over Platt & Bennett.

Sunday will see hostilities resume for Round 4 of the Championship before the final rounds at Le Mans in late October.
