Cian’s Calicorse Debuts at Bolivar

The opening round of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship will be a blockbuster weekend of racing with newly formed karting race team making their debut in the championship!

Calicorse, formed in January 2024 and based in South East Queensland will be ran by 3 time Australian Champion Cian Fothergill.

Fothergill has scaled back his operation and size of team from 2023 to form Calicorse and focus on the development and progress of his younger drivers. Calicorse will be focusing on programs in the Cadet and Junior ranks to form the next wave of motorsport stars.

“Its and exciting time to be bringing the Calicorse to our first AKC round this weekend, we’ve scaled our team back to just 5 drivers this weekend and looking to focusing on our Junior development”.

Fothergill overseas with the factory Energy Corse team at Lonato

Calicorse will be led by a 3 pronged main driver attack in former Australian champion Ky Burke, 2023 championship runner up Jay Kostecki and Australian Kart Championship podium getter Jack Larsen. All 3 drivers have had success at the top level with Fothergill confident of a positive start to the championship.

“Its great to have Ky and Jack back on board with myself and part of the new Calicorse team! Both have had success at the highest level and to have Jay Kostecki come on board in 2024 we’ve got great drivers to go for round victories.”

Burke will be supported in the premier KA2 Junior category by Annabel Kennedy and Luca Wasley who both raced under Fothergills guidance in season 2024.

Fothergill will be continuing his partnership with the Energy Corse Australia brand with all 5 of his drivers using the product at Bolivar this weekend.

“Its great to be working with Energy Corse once again in 2024. I’ve had great success with the brand and wouldn’t want to start the Calicorse journey with any other brand”.

Calicorse lead driver will be Ky Burke

Calicorse while travelling across Australia, won’t stop their karting team there with target race meetings in both Europe and Asia planned in season 2024.

With the countdown clock about to hit zero to the opening round of the championship, Calicorse has well and truly arrived in the Karting Australia landscape!
