Bright Brothers GPS Report

Bright Brothers Racing took on the Golden Power Series finale over the weekend at their home circuit of the Gippsland Kart Club. All three brothers were ready to do battle with Bodhi competing in KA3 Senior Medium, Harley in KA3 Senior Light and Zane in the TAG 125 Light class and all were prepared for a wet and wild weekend of racing!

Bodhi hit the track in the KA3 Senior Medium class and was right in the fight for pole position setting the 3rd fastest time of the session to put him on the 2nd row of the grid. Bright had a mixed opening 2 heats with a brilliant victory in heat 1 but was disqualified from heat 2 while leading the race due to a sidepod coming loose. Bodhi was off position 9 for the 3rd and final heat and he put in a stellar performance to move up 5 spots into 4th spot. Bright was starting out of position 6 for the final and quickly moved his way into the top 5. Bodhi made his way further up and was right on the verge of the podium positions and crossed the line in an excellent 4th position overall!

Harley Bright was up next in the KA3 Senior Light class in a quality field of drivers. Bright had a breakout moment in his senior career qualifying on the front row of the grid in 2nd spot! Harley had a tough Saturday with a DNF in the opening heat while battling in the mid pack. Bright bounced back for 2 top 10 finishes with 6th in heat 2 and 9th in heat 3 which had him in the top 10 battle and pushing back towards the top 5 drivers. Harley was pushing hard in the final trying to make up positions and made an unfortunate mistake which ruled him out of the final. Bright had strong pace all weekend in one of his best showings of the season!

Zane Bright was the oldest brother taking his place in the ultra-competitive TAG 125 Light field. Bright put in an excellent performance in qualifying to just miss the top 5 in 6th position overall. Zane had a tough start to his weekend being run off at turn 1 by other drivers, which dropped him down to position 12 overall. Zane then had a mixed 2 remaining heats with a top 10 finish of 8th in heat 2 but finished down the order in 16th in heat 3 after being shuffled back in the order. Bright saved one of his best drives of the season to the final when he charged his way back into the top 10 and finished in a brilliant 8th position!

The 3 Bright brothers’ father Shannon Bright spoke post weekend on the teams mixed and fun weekend of racing at their home club. “The weekend started with solid qualifying sessions for each of the drivers, Harley taking his first front row start, Bodhi up in 3rd in his class & Zane with a 6th in an ultra-competitive field of TAG 125 light. All three drivers did a great job all weekend & enjoyed the close racing with the other competitors”.
