Fabcon Racing Shakedown for GPS

Fabcon Racing took a team of 4 drivers across 3 classes to the Rochester Kart Club over the weekend for the Golden Power Series shakedown event. With near 100 entries and strong numbers across all classes, the Fabcon team were in for a tough day of racing.

The team had Jamie Rowe in KA3 Senior Light and TAG 125 Light, Nick Popple in KA3 Senior Light, Isabel Rowe in KA4 Junior Heavy and Ryan Wyhoon in KA4 Junior Heavy.

Isabel Rowe and Ryan Wyhoon were first to hit the track into the KA4 Junior Heavy class. Rowe with no practice, was able to put her Fabcon entry on the front row of the grid in position 2. Wyhoon was just outside the top 5 in position 6 and was looking to move forward across the heats. Rowe was consistent across the heats with 3 2nd placings putting her on the outside of the front row for the final.

Wyhoon stayed in position 6 for heat 1 and 3 but did a brilliant job in heat 2 to move up to 3rd spot. This had Ryan out of position 4 and up on the outside of the 2nd row. Rowe was able to improve all day in lap time and crossed the line in 2nd position in the final and take 2nd for the round. Wyhoon put in another brilliant race to jump up to 3rd in the final and making it a double podium for Fabcon Racing!

Jamie Rowe was up next in the TAG 125 Light class where he started his weekend with a bang, landing pole position by over 2 tenths! Rowe had his Fabcon Racing entry on rails in the opening 2 heats taking victory in both and having himself off pole position for heat 3.

Rowe was involved in a 2nd lap incident in heat 3 which put him to the rear of the field and this had him off position 2 in the final. Jamie slotted into position 3 off the start and was in a battle for victory! Rowe was able to move up into 2nd position by the chequered flag and this had him on the podium in 2nd spot for the round.

Jamie was back out on track with stable mate Nick Popple for the KA3 Senior Light class. Rowe was able to put it on pole position for the 2nd time, with Popple inside the top 10 in position 8. Jamie was the dominate driver of the heats, taking out all 3 victories!

Popple was able to move forward across the heats with a 9th, 8th and 4th in the final heat. Rowe was able to make it a clean sweep of race wins and the round win for Fabcon Racing. Popple just missed the top 5 in the final in position 6. This had Popple in position 7 overall for the round.

Team owner and manager Bryan Rowe spoke post weekend on the team’s weekend of racing. “It was a great day with 3 podiums and a win to Jamie in KA3 Senior Light. Jamie had great pace in the TAG and Isabella and Ryan both jumped on the podium. Nick progressed across the day and we’ve got a strong hand going into the next month”.

Fabcon Racing will be back on track this weekend for the Australasian Kart Titles at the Goulburn Valley Kart Club.
