Ups & Downs at CoM Titles

Fabcon Racing hit the track for the 36th running of the Panduit City of Melbourne Kart Titles over the weekend at the Go Kart Club of Victoria. The team had lady racer Isabel Rowe running in the KA4 Junior Heavy category and Jamie Rowe in the TAG 125 Light class. With big fields of high level drivers in both classes, the team was in for a tough and hard weekend of racing.

Isabel was the first to hit the track for qualifying on Saturday morning and did a brilliant job to land herself inside the top five drivers. Rowe starting out of position 5, was unfortunately involved in an incident at the start of the race putting her to the rear of the field. The lady racer rebounded to position 15 but was determined in the remaining heat races to make her way forward.

Isabel did a consistent job in heat 2 staying inside the top 5 and finishing off the race with good points and position 5 in the race. Position 7 was the starting point for Rowe in heat 3 and she did a fine job of making her way into the top 5 across the race. Isabel was able to go further forward and cross the line in position 3 for her best finish of the weekend so far.

The final was a heart in mouth affair with Rowe getting to the lead of the race and having multiple lead changes across the race. Isabel gave it everything she had and crossed the line in position 2 to take home a sensational podium finish!

Jamie Rowe was up next in the near full field of TAG 125 Light drivers. Jamie put in a superb qualifying performance to land in position 3 against 30 other state and national level drivers. Rowe was able to move up a spot in heat 1 and really challenged Brad Jenner the race leader in the early stages.

Heart break occurred for the TAG 125 Light racer when he was pushed off the circuit at turn 1 on the opening lap of the final ruling him out of contention.

Team owner Bryan Rowe spoke post weekend on the ups and downs of Fabcon Racings weekend. “Both Isabel and Jamie did a brilliant job all weekend. Isabel worked her way into the top 3 and my heart was pumping in the final. To come away with second spot was an awesome result. Jamie was super quick all weekend and we were ready to try take it to Jenner in the final. To have his final end at turn 1 is tough to swallow but that’s racing and we’ll be back”.

Fabcon Racing will have a busy end to 2022 to try grab some more strong results.
