Driver PR: Marcus Pisani, GKCV Race Day

Marcus Pisani returned to the Go Kart Club of Victoria over the weekend to kick off his 2022 season. Pisani, who jumped aboard the Tecno Karts Australia stable to end 2021, was looking to kick off 2022 with a big start.

Marcus will be running the Australian Kart Championship under the Tecno Karts Australia banner and was looking to build a strong pace and set up base for the opening round next month.

Pisani looked to Sunday morning qualifying to kick off his racing weekend. With a large field of twenty-one KA3 Senior drivers, Marcus was looking for a strong start to his weekend. The CC Racing powered entry hit the track and immediately had a package to challenge for pole position. Pisani had competition from Jenson Teleskivi, Jake Santalucia and multiple time state champion Taine Venables. In a lighting lap Marcus was the only driver to go under forty-one seconds and put his Tecno Kart on pole position for the opening heat race.

Pisani was now looking for a clean get away in heat one and that was exactly what the young driver got! Santalucia was stalking the back of the race leader and was making a race of it between the top two. Marcus had strong pace but dropped the lead on lap six and stayed hot on the heals of Santalucia. In an exciting battle Pisani crossed the line in position two overall.

Marcus had a clean opening lap, staying in the top two in heat two. Unfortunately, the Tecno Karts Australia driver got shuffled back to position seven in the next few laps, halting his chance for victory. Pisani put his head down and tried to put in fast and consistent laps. In a nice fightback, Marcus was able to make his way back inside the top five crossing the line in position five overall.

The CC Racing powered driver was off the front row for the final heat and once again slotted into the top three in the opening few laps. Lap three Pisani race came fully unstuck, going to the rear of the field and once again being out of contention for the race win. Marcus made his way back up to position twelve by race end trying to gain as many points as possible.

Pisani headed into the final with an all or nothing approach. The young driver knew he had the pace to win but was going to need some luck. After a clean opening lap, the Tecno Karts Australia backed entry settled into position six and had time to move forward. The CC Racing powered entry moved up to position five on lap two, position four on lap three and was in the top three by lap four in an epic start. In another amazing lap from the young driver, Marcus went from third to the race lead on lap five and was able to drive away and take a breath-taking win to start the season.

Marcus would like to thank Tecno Karts Australia for all their support, CC Racing for an awesome motor and his parents for all their help and hard work.

Pisani will head to the opening round of the Australian Kart Championship next month full of confidence!
