Track Extension at Horsham

The layout of the Wimmera Kart Racing Club’s circuit at Horsham is about to get longer.

Local business Miller‘s Earthmoving Contractors began taking levels at the venue yesterday. The track will receive 285m of new tarmac that will add over 100m to the overal length.

To give everyone an understanding of how the new circuit will look compared to the current shape, the club has overlaid the two on the diagram below (new layout in grey with the old section highlighted in red). The extra distance gained will bring the total length to 630m.

The re-configured layout will be over 100m longer than the existing circuit (in red)

“The new layout will be more enjoyable for drivers providing a fresh challenge and less fatigue” the club posted on Facebook.

“We feel we’ve created an additional three opportunities for drivers to get creative in setting up passing moves.”

Contractors are scheduled to finish the main works by early March. The club will then be calling members to reconstruct the safety fences, tyre barriers and catch traps after which it can be inspected for KA compliance.
