The Country Kart Spares / Tecno Victoria team took to the November Club Day at the Go Kart Club of Victoria over the weekend. With Tecno Factory team on track, the four-driver team was looking to have a fun and competitive day of racing.
The team had Cadet 12 drivers Aston Hill and Dino Maio. The ultra-competitive KA3 Junior category had regulars Aris Kyriakou and Chadd Moore representing the team.
Aston Hill led the way for Country Kart Spares / Tecno Victoria qualifying on the second row of the grid in position three overall. Aston had a great start in heat one leading at the end of the opening lap. Aston didn’t quite have the pace of the top three, coming home in a very strong fourth position.
Hill showed once again in heat two his starts were a strong point jumping into the lead once again. Hill showed determination and strong pace to come home with another strong fourth position. Hill continued on with another fourth position in heat three before jumping onto the podium in the final only counts race. Aston sat in second spot for majority of the race before coming home in third position, taking home a podium for the team.
Dino Maio continued to learn his craft in his new Tecno kart. Dino qualified in position sixteen overall and came home in his qualifying spot in heat one. Maio had a stronger result in heat two moving up four spots throughout the race coming home in position twelve, just outside the top ten. Young Dino came home with another fifteen in heat three before coming home in position sixteen overall in the final race. Maio’s lap times had improved by nearly two seconds by days end in a great improvement!
Aris Kyriakou led the charge in the KA3 Junior category for the Country Kart Spares / Tecno Victoria team. Aris qualified down in position twelve but was only four tenths off pole position showing just how tight the field was. Kyriakou had mixed heat results bursting into the top ten for a ninth-place finish in heat one. Heat two didn’t go his way, dropping back to position fifteen overall. Aris bounced back in strong fashion in heat three, jumping back up inside the top ten. Kyriakou had his strongest result of the day in position overall. Aris raced his heart out in the final showing strong pace and excellent racing. Kyriakou came home just outside the top ten in position eleven overall.
Chadd Moore qualified behind his stable mate Kyriakou in position seventeen overall. Moore had a great start to his racing weekend moving up four spots. Chadd finished his first heat in position and looked to heat two. Moore didn’t get the best start in heat two dropping back a few spots. Chadd showed determination and good pace to make his way back up to position seventeen overall. Chadd was unfortunately involved in an incident in heat three resulting in a DNF result. Moore then had a great battle in the final to make his way back into the top fifteen in position fifteen overall.
Team manager Shane Moore spoke of a great weekend of fun and learning. “It was awesome to have the Tecno Factory team there for the weekend with impressive set up and support. All drivers were able to learn a lot from the team. It was Aston’s first podium with the team and at Todd Road which was a great result. The team will next head to the final round of the Eastern Lions Kart Club Championship in December.
