from Danny Jones
Karting is strong in South Australia, with the second round of the Festival State Cup bringing a good number of karters out to country SA and the Whyalla Kart Club, which hosted the second round of the series at Mt Young Raceway last weekend.
The event started with practice under lights on the Friday, going through to the finals on Sunday. This brought out varying track conditions, with some very quick lap times that saw lap records broken.
There were some great races, with many drivers fighting for podium positions. Some of the standouts through the meeting were Ben Holiday, Jedd Stanton, Nikki Watson, Trent Ashman, Callum Fry and Daniel Bowden who all won every heat and the final of their respective classes.
The next round of the Festival State Cup will be held at Barossa on 1st August and will surely be every bit as good. Whyalla Kart Club will have an open club day on 19th June, all are welcome.
