by Kev ‘The Noise’ Davies

Dalby Kart Club’s Noise Summer Series round 2 was run on the weekend with 55 drivers contesting this round – a fantastic number of entries for this small country town club. There was some fabulous racing at the Yumborra Raceway which was a night race this time under the floodlights.

In the Open Performance class a well deserved 3rd place went to Carl Solomon with a solid drive. Also driving really well tonight was Troy Kubecek aboard the 83 machine and a fabulous effort once again brought Terry Graham the win! Russel Martin was very unlucky after showing some cracking pace early and the mid pack battles were awesome with Whitbred, Rochford, Dobson, Welke, Gundry & Dyke. Unfortunately dramas meant Mark Michels the pre race favourite took no further part after heat one and the same unfortunately happened to Dale Turner.

Open Performance podium

No fewer than 18 four stroke karts took to the track, which is actually the track limit! The ever present and consistent Craig Taylor came away with the lollies. Running him oh so close was Luke Munoz who unfortunately had a spin in heat 3 effectively ruining his otherwise excellent chance of a win, so second it was for Luke who on count back beat Jamie Powell as they finished on the same points. In turn fourth place was only 4 points behind and it was father of Luke Mr Alf Munoz who managed the 4th place finish in his return to competitive racing. Just about all the other competitors had their moment to shine or slide as the case maybe in one of the races and it was a sight for sore eyes on the Yumborra Raceway circuit!

The beginners saw little Bobby Brown Annis go out and race against Ryland Whitbred, the pair put on a fantastic display and enjoyed the evening thoroughly, big smiles all round with Bobby Brown winning the night.

The Teenagers saw Isaac Bliesner take the win comfortably ahead of Abbey McDonald who, after winning heat 1, fell back into the clutches of Nicholas Zimmerman, with some great on track battles! Nicholas would eventually get third, Chelsea Buttler was fourth and Steph Dyke 5th.

In the Juniors class, another great evening of racing with Lukas Bliesner, Lachlan Hudson & Lilly Shepherd all taking a heat victory, but Bliesner eventually amassed enough points to take the win finishing one point ahead of Hudson who in turn was just 6 points ahead of Shepherd. Freddy junior Shepherd was fourth and fifth went to Jack Green.

In the Comers, Angus McLaren recorded his first heat win which eventually earned him 4th place overall. Danny Betts was the winner on the night ahead of Ben Shepherd, and 3rd place went to Aston Whitbred. Coming home 5th was the new kid on the block, Kruze “the missile” Solomon.

A great win in the Clubman Light class for Craig Taylor making it a double victory on the night. He beat Jessika Bliesner by 10 points into second and finishing 3rd it was Nathan Winning.

The Clubman Heavy was a competitive affair with Josh Betts doing his usual consistent drive to win by a relatively small 7 point margin, but 2 points separated the rest, Wayne Gilby coming home second ahead of Fast Freddy Shepherd with Tim Bliesner coming in 4th.

Thanks as usual to the Dalby committee volunteers and helpers, it was a fabulous event and the canteen as usual did an awesome job feeding everyone.

Next we move onto the third and final round of the Summer Series!
