Juniors Can Now Go Superkarting in NSW

The Superkart Club of NSW has confirmed and welcomed the participation of Junior karters to their race meetings within the state, clarifying the new minimum age restriction is now 14 years.

The Club has been pursuing the age restriction to be adjusted for a number of years, from its previous restriction of 16 Years.

CAMS and the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation confirmed in April that drivers from 14-years-old can now race around Sydney Motorsport Park.

Fourteen to sixteen year olds can now compete in the following classes in NSW:

  • Rotax Light 125cc
  • Rotax Heavy 125cc
  • 125cc Stock Honda
  • 125cc Open Gearbox

16+ Years of age competitors are open to run other categories within the Superkarts Regulations, including 250cc/450cc National (Single Cylinder) and 250cc International (Twin Cylinder).

14-16 year olds in NSW can now go from this (above)

‘’In previous years, state regulations had prohibited younger drivers from racing around Eastern Creek, our crown jewel circuit” explained Superkarts NSW President Adam Stewart.

“This had implications for the upcoming National Championship race at the Muscle Car Masters on August 30/Sept 1st.

“The Championship leader in 125cc Open Gearbox is under 16 years of age, and to lose a championship because you weren’t able to participate was a massive shame, not only for the driver but the Superkarting Community.

“These rules also implicated our member retention and interest in the sport, as there have been numerous enquiries over the years for younger drivers to get into the long circuit racing. We can’t wait to accommodate all the drivers interested from here on!”

The next available race meetings that welcoming junior racers to the Superkart Club of NSW are:

  • Sunday 15th September – Wakefield Park
  • Sunday 6th October – Sydney Motorsport Park (North Circuit)
  • Sunday 27th October – Sydney Motorsport Part GP Circuit
