Kiwi karter Fraser Hart claimed his second Rotax DD2 Masters class win in a row at the penultimate round of Australia’s 2019 Rotax Pro Tour series Warwick in rural Queensland on Sunday.
Hart, from Palmerston North, was again all class, qualifying quickest and going on to win two of the three heats before setting the fastest lap as he raced away from the field to win both the Pre-Final and Final.
Young Hamilton driver Clay Osborne also earned a place on the podium at the big Warwick meeting, also setting the quickest race lap on his way to 2nd place in the Junior Max Final. Before that he had qualified fifth quickest and come back from a dnf in the first heat to claim third place finishes in the other two heats and the Pre-Final.
Hart and Osborne were two of a 10-strong group of resident Kiwis who travelled to Warwick (a small rural service town situated on the New England Highway an hour south of Toowoomba) for the fifth of six rounds of this year’s Sparco Rotax Pro Tour.
Of the other eight, Jackson Rooney put in his best qualifying performance of the year with the 2nd best lap time in the Rotax Light class before 5-4-5 finishes in the heats, a 5th in the Pre-Final, and 7th in the Final.
Two places back in 9th place in the Rotax Light class Final was NZ class title holder Fynn Osborne with fellow Kiwis Bradley Hewson from Rotorua 13th and Rianna O’Meara-Hunt 14th.

Doing well to work their way forward for 7th place finishes in their respective class Finals, meanwhile, were Auckland’s Bond Roby (Rotax DD2) and Palmerston North veteran Brendon Hart (Rotax Heavy).
Roby qualified 9th quickest and had a best heat race finish of 6th before finishing 8th in his Pre-Final and 7th in his Final.
Hart, meanwhile, qualified 14th and after a 14-12-15 run through the heats came back from a dnf in his Pre-Final to a weekend best 7th place in the Final.
The younger of the two Manson brothers, Marco, ended up 5th in the Micro Max Final while older brother Sebastian came back from a multi-kart crash and resulting dnf in the Pre-Final to finish 10th in the Mini Max Final.
With the first five rounds now done and dusted the focus of those contesting this year’s Sparco Rotax Pro Tour series now turns to the double header gala finale at Albury in Victoria over the September 14-15 weekend.
