  • Victorian karting has lost another valued member. Trevor Pearce was tragically killed while participating in the Great Victorian Bike Ride near Mansfield on Wednesday. The 65-year old was well known as an AKA official and as one of Victoria’s head Technical officers. He was a former President and Life Member of the Eastern Lions Kart Club. He is survived by wife Lynne, daughter Rachel and son Brett.

  • News from KartSport New Zealand about the Rotax MAX EVO Series engine - "Until such time KartSport New Zealand has had the opportunity to fully understand the impact these new engines may have, and decide on possible implementation date(s) for both the new EVO engines and 'EVO upgrade kits', the Rotax Max EVO engines and various 'EVO upgrade' components are not eligible for competition in the current respective KartSport New Zealand Rotax classes."

  • The ABkC in the UK has issued a statement about the Rotax MAX EVO engine in their competition. Graham Smith, Secretary of the ABkC said: “At this late stage of announcement we would not see any EVO options in MSA racing for 2015 that are performance enhancing..." Read more on Kartlink HERE.

  • Congratulations to Australian karting graduate, and still part-time kart racer, Justin Ruggier on being voted as the Shannons Nationals "RACER of the Year".

  • While the entire V8 Supercars field at the Sydney 500 this weekend feature tributes to cricketer Phillip Hughes, Scott McLaughlin's Volvo carries this for fallen friend Aaron Ivermee who passed away last weekend. "Forever with us lads" McLaghlin wrote on facebook. "Raced hard against Az, will race hard for him this weekend."


  • Speaking of Aaron Ivermee, David Sera and Glenn Powles produced the #58 sticker below to remember a mate. "These stickers will be available to all who'd like to show their support to the Ivermee family" Sera wrote. "Big thanks to Glenn Powles for having these organised. If you're racing at the Victorian Closed this weekend you can get them there, otherwise hit me up and I'll send them anywhere needed."

  • And speaking of the Sydney 500, Karting Australia has a presence in the CAMS stand promoting the sport. The display features karts to be used in the new KA Junior and KA TAG Classes:


  • New Black Stuff - the Gippsland Kart Club's track at Morwell has closed and will remain closed until January 20 to enable the circuit to be resurfaced and for the surface to cure. The Eastern Lions' track at Puckapunyal is also set for new asphalt, possibly in February but in time for the first club day of 2015.

  • The Master Karting spare parts van & trailer is trackside at the South West Kart Club's track for The 2014 Victorian Closed State Championship.

  • Kartsport New Zealand has issued a number of rule changes, including changes to the Judicial Code and driving behaviour rules, plus a few Vortex Kiwi Mini ROK clarifications and new rules regarding Vintage (see Rule Changes Issue 2014-9) and Practice Licences. To download the PDF, click HERE.


  • Newcastle Kart Racing Club has answered the request of numerous members and as a result J-MAX is to be included in the 2015 CRG / PRD Galaxy Club Championships at Newcastle. "For this to continue past round 1, it will need to be well supported, so get onto your fellow competitors & make it happen. Round 1 is 18th January" the club posted.

  • The Supp Regs for Oakleigh's annual season opening Junior Top Guns are now out - see the Race Calendar page. The two rounds run on Friday 16 and Saturday 17th of January.

  • Renovations at Patrizi Corse HQ in Queensland to store stock of incoming Ricciardo Kart and Vega tyres for the Australian market:


  • Long-time karter Kym Pearce has been awarded Life Membership to the Southern Go Kart Club in Adelaide for his 34 years of service and ongoing commitment to karting and the club. The 2015 Executive was also announcement: President - Brett Fortainier, Vice President - Eddie Spear, Secretary - Brenda Fortainier, Treasurer - Beckie Jones, Race Secretary - Warren Mitchell.

  • Four World Finals tickets will be up for grabs in the 2015 Rotax Challenge of the Americas. Drivers able to secure the titles in the Senior Max, Junior Max, DD2 and Masters Max categories this coming season will qualify directly for a RMCGF ticket (the Masters Max title winner will compete in DD2 Masters). The date and location of the 2015 World Final is yet to be announced. The series will be for pre-EVO engines (EVO engines will become eligible in the USA on April 1). 2015 Rotax Challenge of the Americas Schedule:
    January 9-11, Musselman Honda Circuit - Tucson, Arizona
    February 13-15, Phoenix Kart Racing Association - Glendale, Arizona
    March 13-15, Simraceway Performance Karting Center - Sonoma, California
