  • Gordon Cooper is in Spain, camera in hand, and posting images on Facebook from each day's activities at the Rotax World Final. Photos from the opening day and kart raffle can be found HERE. Day 2 photos (first practice) are HERE and Day 3 photos (final practice & qualifying) are HERE.

  • Karting is part of a $2.7 Billion Australian Motors Sport industry. That's what a report commissioned by CAMS last year says. The sudy, conducted by Ernst & Young, highlights the importance of the motor sport industry to Australia, by estimating the economic contribution, value add and employment of the industry in 2013. The study also estimates other key measures, such as the number of participants, clubs and venues across Australia. Link to the 28-page report in PDF format HERE.


  • 2014 Formula 1 world Champion Lewis Hamilton surprises nine-year-old karting champion Harley Haughton in the 5 live (UK) studio. Lewis remembers his days in karting and has some sound advice for young Harley:


  • The SKUSA SuperNationals that just concluded in Las Veags will be televised via Torque.TV on CBS Sports Network (dates and times TBA). Meantime, check out this quick edit the film crew punched out after the final chequered flag fell at the SKUSA awards ceremony (a few Aussies feature in here too!):


  • Superkarts will again feature on the card in the 2015 Shannons Nationals series. Superkarts will run at two of the nine rounds, namely the second round at Sydney Motorsport Park (Eastern Creek) on 3-5 July, then round 7 at Phillip Island on 18-20 September.

  • Speaking of Superkarts, the Victorian Superkart Club is hosting the 2014 AASA Australian Superkart Nationals at Winton this weekend, November 29 & 30. Over 50 of Australia’s leading drivers from around the country have entered. Categories from 125cc Non-Gearbox (Rotax) right through to the incredible 250cc twins will be represented. Winton is an easy 2 hour drive north of Melbourne. Pack some lunch or buy it at the circuit. Spectator entry is free via the main gate. Action kicks off at 10am both days and should conclude around 4pm, with most races scheduled for Sunday the 30th.


  • Kart360 has published an "Official Chassis Manufacturer Breakdown" for the chassis partners at the Rotax World Final.   • The South West Kart Club's circuit will be closed this Saturday for maintenance. "We’re having a working bee this Saturday to prepare the track for the Vic Closed Title and we’d hate for any Karter’s to turn up expecting they can have a practice" the club advised KartSportNews. "Our Club day event this Sunday the 30th is open for any Karter whom would like to attend. Practice from 10am, the final will be 17 laps."

  • RKC (Ringwood Kart Centre) is now stocking Bell - RXT and Kabuto helmets "to cater for every Kart racer's taste and budget". These Australian Standard approved helmets start at $99. Contact www.ringwoodkartcentre.com.au

  • The WSK race calendar for 2015 has been released. It has expanded to 10 events, including two series - the WSK Champions Cup and WSK Super Master Series. The events will cater for the usual international categories of KZ2, KF and KF Junior, plus 60 Mini. New for next year is the WSK Night Edition. This one-off event will be raced under lights on Saturday 4th July on the new Adria Karting Raceway.
