Tiger Kart Club November Club Day 2014

The November round of the TKC club day series ended what has been a fantastic year for those chasing the prestigious title of club champion. 10 rounds of high speed action culminated on the weekend with over 130 drivers battling it out at Cockburn raceway in perfect conditions.

Some of the classes came down to the wire with the last races of the day deciding who took the top step of the podium for 2014 and you could feel the pressure building all day.

One of the closest battles was in the Over 40s class with our vice president Paul Brophy and over 40s stalwart Allan McNess going right down to the wire in the final 2 races. With both drivers giving it everything and racing only inches apart all day Allan just managed to keep ahead to claim what is a well deserved championship win, well done Allan and better luck next year Paul.

Jet DeMarte certainly lived up to his name with a dominating display in Cadets with 4 wins from 5 races, he was followed home by Luca Nici and Jacob Fimognari. Congratulations also to Craig Spencer who took a great win in race 3.

Alex Hannant put on another dominating display in Jnr Nat light closely followed by Cory Minton and Hayden Fraser, Alex has proven to be a real powerhouse this year and looks to get even faster in 2015.

Arron Grossman absolutely dominated Sportsman 100 light going undefeated all day and winning most races by a huge margin. We look forward to Arron really taking it up to the top drivers in WA next year and seeing him lapping in a KZ-3 kart after the meeting could be a sign he’s ready to take the next step to the top level of our sport very soon.

Sportsman 125 Restricted had a huge field of 19 karts, plenty of action and some epic battles on the track. Both 125 Restricted classes are the show stoppers for our club day events with lots of action guaranteed when these guys hit the track. Nigel Brown took the win in lights and Justin Clayden dominated the heavy class in his usual style. Well done to both drivers and to all the 125 restricted drivers for turning up in such huge numbers.

Congratulations to all the other competitors who took home the spoils in each of their respective classes.
The club also unveiled our latest addition to the track with some very cool street art adorning our pit shed walls.

Jodie Behan from the City of Cockburn was very generous to make available a grant to the club where local street artist Dan Duggan was invited to “spice up” our boring white pit wall with a Tiger Kart Club themed mural. The final outcome was amazing and really adds to the vibe of the venue especially resonating with our many younger drivers who thought the art work was AWSOME!!!

Just as important though are those that just enjoy the fun and excitement of racing in the series all year, that’s what the TKC club day’s are all about see you all again in 2015
