  • Two Karting Australia 'open' state championships are being contested on opposite sides of the country this weekend. The NSW Championships are being held at Grenfell while the WA Championships are at Geraldton. Official practice commenced today (Thursday) with qualifying on Friday. Heats and pre-finals are scheduled to be complete by the end of Saturday so that Sunday is a 'Finals Only' day. Links to the entry lists via karting.net.au:
  • On the other end of the scale, the South West Kart Club in Victoria has cancelled this weekend's Shane McPhee Memorial race meeting due to low entry numbers. The club apologises for any inconvenience.

  • Tony Kart Australia is offering several different packages to cater for people wanting to compete in the upcoming Rotax Pro Tour. They vary from purely transport and pit spaces, to full factory preparation on a brand new kart. Since joining the Pro Tour, Tony Kart Australia has had a driver qualify for the Rotax Max Grand Finals every year.   • Video below is of Andrew Jones (CAMS Academy instructor and V8 Supercar driver) about the value of the CAMS Academy and its contribution to driver development as a number of top line Australian kart racers participated in an Australian Motor Sport Academy Camp last weekend in Albury.


  • The 2014 VKA Presentation Night will take place at the Mantra Tullamatine Hotel on Saturday, December 13. Presentations will be made for the Victorian Karting Series and Golden Power Series, plus the annual Karter of the Year awards for Senior, Junior, Rookie and Cadet drivers. The end-of-year celebration starts at 6:30pm with dinner at 7:00pm. Ticket prices are $48 for adults (13 years & over, includes a two course meal) and $20 for kids (12 and under, includes childrens meal). Tickets are available via the VKA office and must be purchased by December 8.

  • Four x $250 random prizes means there will be $1000 to be won at the Whitsunday Titles this weekend:


  • Oakleigh Kart Club has announced $1500 in cash prizes for the Southern City Classic on Saturday October 11. All 8 classes (seniors only) get 42 laps of racing in the mid-afternoon/twilight format. Info page HERE.

  • karting1.co.uk's video of the F100 90s Series round at the Clay Pigeon circuit recently. The group had a healthy 26-kart grid of these lightweight, high-reving machines.

  • Hobart born driver Alex Peroni has been racing karts from the age of 7, progressed from racing in Tasmania to mainland Australia and then to Europe. The 14-year old is now eyeing a run in the 2015 Italian Formula 4 Championship with the Israeli-backed Italian-based "Israeli F4" team. Peroni recently tested with the team in Italy and is planning two further tests in Europe later in the year.
